My name is Rob Burckhard, CIW class of 2007, and here’s my update:
When I was at Binghamton, I was an RA in Onondaga for 3 years and worked on Co-Rec Football and Casino-in-the-Woods. I also served on the RA Training Committee my Junior year of 2005-06. I got my Masters in Sport Business Management in December 2008 and have been working at Baseball Info Solutions since then as a Research Analyst. (Back to Top)
I was an RA in Cleveland Hall in 2000-01. After college I took 2 years off -- spent time in EMS, took the paramedic course, traveled a little, and applied to med school. In June 2003 I was commissioned in the Navy (ENS) and began medical school. I graduated from Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD (it's the military medical school) in May 2007 as a LT in the Navy. From there I did a surgery internship (first year of residency) at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. The Navy (and Army and Air Force) have the opportunity to do an operational tour between years 1 and 2 of residency. I began my flight surgery training in Nov 2008 and will graduate in May 2009, at which point I'll begin a minimum 2 year tour as a flight surgeon (which is very similar to being the doctor for a sports team -- only my team will be a squadron of pilots, crew, and families). I was an RA for 4 years (yes - 4 years) at Binghamton in College in the Woods. The only building where I was a Resident Assistant was in Mohawk Hall from Summer 2003 to Spring 2007. I have a lot of great memories from my time as an RA. I'm sure I could dig up some great pictures as well. Some of the things I've done as an RA in CIW include:
* Annual Spelling Bee Tournament
* Mr. CIW Pageant - Charity Event
* Miss CIW Pageant - Charity Event
* Smiles for Miles - Brought children from the Boys & Girls club in Binghamton to Mohawk Hall for a Fun Day of Activities
* Co-Rec Football

While in Binghamton, I also started a marketing company called My Campus Promotions, Inc. as well as Bingmenus.com, which I went on to sell to CampusFood.com. (Back to Top)

I used to be an RA in Onondaga (4m-x) from 2001-2002. I could've sworn I had pictures somewhere. I still know what they look like in my head... but I didn't find any on my external hard drive. I must've started keeping them in digital form the next year, and digitals all I have nowadays, where I'd moved until recently an average of twice a year or more. Anyway, I'm now living and working in Vienna, Austria, after moving here at the end of 2007 after two years of working in Germany. I did a study abroad program my last semester at Binghamton and never came back! I met my partner during that abroad program (he's Austrian) and we were both in Germany for a while until he got a job here in Vienna. After flying back and forth a few times a month for a year, I decided to move here. I'm also studying to get my master's in international relations (I have a bachelor's in linguistics and German from Bing) at Webster University's Vienna campus (their home campus is in St. Louis). I work as an English teacher and translator (self-employed) and am hoping to move back to the States in 2011 when I have my master's... that all relies on whether my boyfriend can get a visa (we could get married in my home state of CT, but the federal government wouldn't recognize it and wouldn't give him a visa (it'd actually make his chances worse), so we're in a tough situation).
I hope to continue with a doctorate in IR when I return to the States. We'll see. (Back to Top)

I was a former RD in Chenango (2 years) and Lehman (1 year). I was the president of BU's Ballroom Dance Association for 1 year and competed on the Ballroom Dance Team.
My wife, Alyson (Ferriss was her maiden name) was an RD in CIW & Dickinson.
We'll be married 5 years this October. We are currently houseparents for the Milton Hershey School- a residential school for needy children. We have 13 high school boys that we care for and treat as our own. I was an administrator at the school and transitioned to this position with Alyson so we could raise our son, Eddie (now 19 months old). This job allows us to literally work from home. We both work together in running the home and caring for the students needs. This allows us plenty of family time during our son's formative years.
We live in Hershey, PA, and come up to Binghamton every summer. We love BU- it was a great place to be. (Back to Top)

I was an RA at BU for three years from Fall 2002 thru Spring 2005. I spent my first year in Smith Hall in Hinman, and the next two years in Mountainview in Hunter. I am proud to say I was one of the first RA's in Mountainview, helping to establish the community and its identity. I have tons of photos from over the years, probably more than I can send through email. I'd be more than happy to share them.
I am currently living in the Binghamton area still, Kirkwood to be exact. I work as a software engineer at L3 Communications Link Simulation and Training and recently married Amanda Jordan Class of '05. (Back to Top)

My current address is 408 East 92nd Street, #2A, NY, NY 10128 and this email. Its funny, my last year at Binghamton I completed an internship for Res Life and created a newsletter to update alumni on the latest happenings on campus. Wow, that would have been so much easier if I had facebook back then. (Back to Top)
